Volkswagen has confirmed its interest in participating in the Formula 1 contest as a supplier of engines. However, there can be no deal regarding its own full-fledged Formula 1 racing team. As expected Volkswagen will begin production and supply of engines for Formula 1 racing cars since 2013.
As per words of Formula 1 ex-racer, Hans-Joachim Stuck, who now represents the interests of VW, it follows that VW is considering to participate in F1 racings, but it is waiting for the decision of the International Federation of motorsport regarding the same engine usage. Hans-Joachim Stuck has also confirmed that VW will not have its own racing team, like a Mercedes or a Renault has.
It is expected that all the teams will use the same turbo charged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, equipped with a KERS system.
