Toyota Prius Alpha – More Seats And Space

The first images of the new Toyota Prius have appeared in the network, supplemented by a short list of specifications. A car, called Alpha, is the last stage of development and it would be formally presented in March 2011. Experts predict that this will take place at the Geneva motor show next year.

A notable feature of the car is that it will be the first Prius, equipped with lithium-ion batteries. Based on the platform of the current Prius, Alpha model will be slightly increased in dimensions because of the additional row of seats. The length of the body will be increased in about 300 mm and wheelbase – 20 mm.

The new Alpha will be equipped with 1.8-liter gasoline engine and THSII hybrid system. All this will ensure the 135 hp of generated power. With regard to fuel economy Alpha will be slightly inferior Prius due to the increasing size and weight. Fuel consumption at cum-cycle will be 4.7 litres per 100 km.
