Top 10 Cars of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show

This year the International Geneva Motor Show started on the 8th of March and it’s the 82 edition (that’s right…the first Geneva Motor Show was held in 1905) which hosted major vehicle debuts including production cars, concepts, and tuner cars. The annual auto show held in Geneva is one of the most important events for car enthusiasts as the automakers bring the most exotic and powerful machines. It’s too bad far not everyone can make it to Swiss. As for this year, the notable debuts were: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster, Infiniti Emerg-E plug-in hybrid spots car and much more.

10. Pagani Huayra Carbon Edition

Besides the super cars from “conventional” brands, like Lamborghini or Ferrari, Geneva Motor Show presents the unrenowned models from brands like Koenigsegg and Pagani. Pagani Huayra is a successor to the Zonda, and now it appeared coated in an exposed and high-gloss carbon fiber. Unlike models released by American automakers, the Huayra’s every last piece of body is treated with carbon fiber. The drivetrain stays the same, meaning a 700 hp AMG-sourced 6.0-liter V12.

9. Jaguar XF Sportbrake

First of all, this beautiful wagon is not going to make it to the U.S. which is really sad, because it’s beautiful. Jaguar XF Sportbrake gained its sporty look due to the aggressive front-end, though still kept some classiness with the traditional wagon rear. This sporty and versatile XF wagon is 5-mm longer than the sedan, but you’ll find additional two inches of rear seat headroom due to new sheetmetal from the B-pillar back. The vehicle also weighs 150 lbs less.

8. Aston Martin Virage Volante Q

This is a first Aston Martin to come from the new Q division, which allows customers a whole new level of customization. This Aston Martin Virage Volante Q features a Mariana Blue satin paint finish, blue carbon-fiber interior, yellow leather, and the matching yellow brake calipers. The other highlights are: lightweight forged diamond-turned wheels, the track-day HD video, and the luggage rack.

7. Infiniti Emerg-E

Currently being just a concept, the Emerg-E is the first automaker’s car that incorporates a mid-mounted driveline with dual electric motors. It’s capable of reaching 60 mph in 4 seconds and 130 mph in 30 seconds. The stunning concept runs on pure electric power up to 30 miles. Being one of the most impressive debuts, this Infiniti is fast, high-tech, and hot.

6. McLaren MP4-12C by Mansory

Once you take a look at this chrome orange McLaren MP4-12C, you realize that guys from Mansory team have done a really good job. Sure, the car is a bit overdone, but the crimson starfire metallic paint and luxurious glossy carbon fiber and gold wheels are something that leaves a long-lasting impression. The tuned McLaren MP4-12C is also wider and faster. Having gained more power, it features a better gas mileage as well.

5. Lotus F1 Evora GTE

Here’s another carbon fiber-bodied car. This Evora GTE is brought to Geneva Motor Show to celebrate Lotus’ Formula 1 heritage. It’s a road-going version fitted with the same 444 hp supercharged V6. Its overall weight is reduced though, what makes it the fastest road-going Lotus in automaker’s history.

4. 2013 Porsche Boxster

A cute entry-level sports car has become bigger, lighter, faster, and more efficient. Well, it has grown in price, too. Inspired by the upcoming 918 Spyder in terms of styling, 2013 Porsche Boxster boasts more spacious interior. While the standard Boxster features 265 hp reaching 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, the S model makes 315 hp and accelerates from 0 -60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Expect the new Boxster to arrive this summer, priced from $49,500 for standard model and $60,900 for Boxster S.

3. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

It’s really hard to stand out at such a glamorous event, like the Geneva Motor Show, but not in Ferrari’s case, I guess. The automaker officially introduced the latest of V12 engined hyper cars. The F12 Berlinetta came to replace the 599 Fiorano. Though sharing the same basic format, the new Ferrari is significantly smaller and lighter thanks to the all-new lightweight alloy space frame chassis and suspension. The car makes these impressive 740 hp and can accelerate to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds.

2. Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini has ripped off the roof and the windscreen of the gorgeous Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and created an extreme roadster. It’s called “J” and it’s NOT a concept car. In fact, it’s a one-off, one-run deal that has been already sold for 2.1 million euros. The J Roadster is fitted with the same 6.5-liter V12 (700 hp) as its hardtop sibling. The automaker states that the convertible version of Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 hits the speeds as high as 186 miles per hour.

1. Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse

While Bugatti Veyron Super Sport holds the record for the world’s fastest production coupe, this year the automaker decided to introduce the world’s fastest convertible, too. What Bugatti did is they put the Veyron Super Sport’s 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 (1,200 hp) under the hood of the roofless Grand Sport. Meet the most powerful production roadster of all time!
