Proton Hybrid Concept Powered By Lotus

Proton mini-car Concept will be presented next week at the Geneva Motor Show in three separate body styles. Proton is the first producer which uses the brand new Lotus advanced hybrid-series drivetrain, containing the 3-cylinder, 1.2L Range Extender engine-and-generator set, created for electric vehicles of extended-range and introduced last fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Proton Concept model line will be placed on the stand of Italdesign studio, since that well-known Italian company has created that vehicle for the Malaysian car producer. Italdesign Giugiaro has made the platform for the car just around the Lotus powertrain. It gives a seating height similar to the one at SUVs, being tall enough to accommodate the flat battery pack that is located underneath the passenger compartment. Designer claims that the cars will be supplied with car accessories space similar to compact car, even with a length of less than 12 feet.

Two weeks ago, Proton had disclosed details for a 5-door concept with 4 seats. A three-door hatchback was introduced this week with the nameplate “Country”.A crossover is expected to join a trio of the concepts in the nearest future, distinguishing with higher ground clearance.
