It is not a secret that the most part of Lamborghini models were named after titled bulls, involved at various times in an uncompromising struggle of the bullfight.
Murcielago is no exception: it was named after one of the most courageous representative of the bovine tribe. The bull named Murcielago struggled with the most famous matadors, Rafael Molina on October the 5th 1879 in the Cordoba town. After 24 peak hits Murcielago was still on its feet. Such faith in the victory left no chance for the matador, and Molina decided to save the life of this unique animal.
Murcielago is a symbolic model for a Lamborghini: for the first time in brand’s history, the design has been developed by none-Italian. The author of this project was Luc Donkervolk – Belgian designer. Virtually the entire car is made up of smooth surfaces, clearly bounded by rigid ribs, without a hint of any smooth transition. It was dictated by strict requirements of engineers, faithfully tracking the process of creating the design layout.
The famous British automotive show “Top Gear” has arranged its own road test for this vehicle. The results can be viewed below.
