Handmade Cars You Will Admire, but Not Drive

This is a man’s world, but it would be nothing…nothing without a car. This is how I hear a song by James Brown. Indeed, men’s love affair with autos is as strong as ever. At least this can be seen from men getting inspired by their beloved autos and creating handmade cars. Sure, creativeness is found everywhere, and peeps get their inspiration from all sorts of different things and places, but what these guys do is they find their niche in building not actual cars out of different materials. Some of the ideas I bumped into while searching for these pics really blew my mind. So we are here to find out what inspires people when it comes to building cars and what kind of materials they use. Scroll down to check out the most creative handmade cars.

When it comes to constructing 3D models, papercraft is probably the most popular with cars. Imagine all this cutting, folding, and glueing of numbered parts for a custom made paper car.

While cars made of paper aren’t the craziest stuff, men came to the idea of building cars out of food. Yeap, that’s right. Cars out of food. I guess they are created by hungry car enthusiasts.

Made of bricks, cement, and reenforcing steel bars, this “brick car” is exhibited on the street in China. I guess it’s designed for the toughest dudes.

While you’re getting tan at the beach, car enthusiasts are making car sand sculptures. Unfortunately, sand cars are doomed to exactly the same what happens to sand castles.

The lemon festival which was held in Menton, southern France on February 12, 2009 featured a car made of lemons and oranges. Pretty bright, hu?

This is another car made of paper, or carton to be exact. Probably not as exquisite as the previous paper car, but still very cute.

Before you decide to throw away your Red Bull can, take a look at this picture. Even though this car doesn’t have any steering wheel or engine, it won’t cost you cheap considering the amount of cans used.

This Epson Racing cardboard GT car project is an example of a car every car guy should own. Almost the same size as the NSX, this car was made by pros in about two weeks.

Weather conditions and low temperatures inspire people to build cars made of snow. Say no to snowmen, this is a new era, era of snowcars.

Here’s another car made of cans. I wonder how long does it take to drink soda or beer to build such a car…

The model used for this artistic creation is MG Midget of an early 1960s. It was renovated by two creative artists, Ann Conte and Jeanne Wiley, who re-skinned the old clunker with recycled and overstock materials.

This car is certainly not functioning, but according to national geographic, plant-based vehicles are the wave from the future. Cars made of grass are lighter and thus more fuel efficient. As for me, I prefer the steady, though heavy present cars.

Another popular material used for handmade cars is wood. To be sincere, they remind me of wooden toys, but there’s no secret that men are obsessed with the same toys as in childhood. Well, one of these obsessions is wooden cars. I wonder if they are great on gas. lol

Ford’s Ice Car was displayed at the British International Motor Show on July 18, 2006. Weighing more than five real Focus models, the ice Ford was made by sculptors who worked in a giant freezer for two weeks.
