What are you thinking of when you hear “Russian Supercar”? Is it a turbocharged tank? Lol As a matter of fact, two Russian-built supercars are really not bad and already went into production. I wonder why it took them so long. The Russian company Marussia Motors unveiled its first project named B1 in Moscow in 2008. Then Marussia Motors brought the B2, an evolution of the company’s foray into the sports car segment. The company came closer to its European customers when they presented the B2 at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Intended to become a serious contender in Formula One with its two models, the Marussia Motors concluded a strategic partnership agreement with Valmet Automotive, a top automotive service provider. The B1 and B2 are powered with Cosworth 3.5-liter normally aspirated V6 engine which makes 300 hp and 420 hp (the turbocharged unit). The B2 is capable of reaching 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and features a top speed of 155 mph. Marussia projects are the first in their segment that are fun to drive both through crowded city streets and on the racetrack. Meet two first Russian supercars!
Marussia B2 is a mix of Aston Martin Rapide and Gumpert with elements of Lamborghini Reventon styling tossed in.
The two seater model tips the scales at just 2,425 pounds and is poweted with a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter engine, which makes 300 hp. The B1 has the stance of a Zonda. The very first Russian supercar certainly has a strong and distinctive character.
