The British engineers have just released a new long-awaited supercar, McLaren MP4-12C, which was developed on the latest technologies, used at Formula-1 racing. McLaren MP4-12C requires only 3 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph and another 6 seconds are needed to achieve a 120 mph mark. Moreover the full stop from 120 mph requires only 5 seconds. The maximum speed of the beast is 192 mph.
As expected, the supercar is made of carbon fiber and equipped with 3.8-liter V-8 biturbo engine by Ricardo, which produces 600 hp. McLaren’s shapes express the designers’ admiration related with Formula-1 cars. This engine works in tandem with 7-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. At the length of 4507 mm, width – 1908 mm and height – 1199 mm, the car’s weight is 1300 kg, which is 80 kg less than the Ferrari 458 Italia.
With such a car McLaren plans to grab 4% of the supercar market with annual sales of 1000 MP4-12Cs. McLaren MP4-12C will be launched into sales in the early 2011 and its price on the British market will be about 175,000 pounds.
