The BMW company has started selling a new racing Z4 GT3 supercar based on regular Z4 model. According to the press release of the Bavarian automaker, the main difference between the road and track versions is the engine: the GT3 is supplied with 4.0-liter 8-cylinder engine which produced more then 480 hp, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox. To keep this power under control engineers have developed a full range of security systems. The reinforced cage made of steel pipe and rigidly welded to the body protects the pilot physically.
A racing car has an aerodynamic body kit which is made of carbon fiber. The usage of ultra-light materials helped to reduce vehicle’s weight to 1200 kg. BMW Z4 GT3 is designed for participating in the GT3 Class Touring Car Championship.
