BMW Gran Coupe Concept Starts A New Niche

By creating a new niche in the automotive market with the model BMW 5 Series GT, the Bavarians could rest for a long time, waiting for their competitors. But the German automaker has decided to take a step further by introducing a new concept of the Grand Prix coupe, which was one of the biggest surprises at the motor show in Beijing.

According to the BMW group, the new Gran Coupe concept combines both characteristics of GT series as well as the dynamics of the sports car a roof line which is 10 cm lower than the current BMW 7 Series. It is assumed that the 4-door coupe 5 meters long will form the basis for future 8-series, and will be a fitting response to competitors like Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS.

The design of a new concept car emphasizes the BMW brand’s experience in the development of cars, hich have a pronounced sporting character, an aesthetically convincing style, precision and perfection. Gran Coupe Concept is also a good example of how beautiful and soft the BMW design language can be, which can easily integrate the recently released 5th and 7-series models.

So far no confirmation of when the concept goes into production, most likely finished model will be shown in the near future, and the sales could begin as early as 2012.
