2011 Range Rover With 4.4L V8 Turbodiesel

Land Rover has disclosed the official details regarding their Range Rover with a new eight-cylinder turbodiesel. This 4.4-liter engine will replace the current 3.6 V8 unit. The new engine became 41 horsepower more powerful and has a torque of 700 Nm, which are gained at 2000 rpm.

In addition, Range Rover with a new diesel engine is equipped with ZF eight-step automatic transmission. The car can accelerate to 60 mph in about 7,5 seconds (1,1 seconds faster than the predecessor), and its maximum speed is 125 mph.

With those features the new motor is more economical (in about 19 %) and emits just 253 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. As noted by the representatives of the British brand, is the first Range Rover will consume less than eight liters of fuel per 60 miles (combined cycle).

The engineers managed to reduce the fuel consumption by using the more efficient engine and by reducing losses in the transmission. The eight-step ZF automatic transmission locks almost the torque converter immediately after the change of the gear. In addition, the new Range Rover is equipped with an “advanced” control system for energy consumption, which involves the generator only when the battery needs recharging.
