Land Rover plans to celebrate the 40 anniversary of its line in June next year. And there’s no better present for a birthday than to release a new model, which should return the Range Rover brand to the top of sales, by the mix of the fuel efficiency increase and the reduce of the harmful impacts to the environment.
This milestone vehicle would be a new Range Rover LRX. The UK periodicals report that it will debut on June 17th, 2010, and the first serial models will go on sale in early 2011. The exterior and interior design is expected to be taken from a well-known LRX Concept, demonstrated at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.
Based on the same platform as Freelander has, LRX will receive a transverse engine, which will rotate the front wheels in the compartment with the electric rear axle by TERRAIN brand, which provides the possibility of the rear wheel rotation from battery at up to 20 mph speeds.
