2011 Mazda Minagi – Prototype For CX-5

Mazda has released the first images of the conceptual crossover, which will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show. It is assumed that Mazda Minagi concept will become the prototype of the future CX-5 crossover, which is gonna to be launched into serial production soon.

The concept car that the Japanese intend to present to the public at the next big car show is the second attempt to demonstrate a new Mazda design language after the four-door Shinari coupe. Officially, the current style of the brand is called KODO or “Soul Movement”, and symbolizes another step of the brand evolution. At least, this is stated in the official press release.

To draw additional attention to the new SKYACTIV production line is another goal of the Mazda Minagi concept. This concept includes not only the newly developed power units, but also a number of other measures aimed at the maximum reduction of air emissions. Concept will be equipped with all the environmental technologies available today.

The manufacturer has not disclosed technical characteristics and equipment details, but we can assume that Minagi received a newly developed 175 hp diesel engine and a brand new SKYACTIV-Drive transmission. In addition, the concept has a SKYACTIV-body ( it should become lighter and tough according to a new phylosophy) and SKYACTIV-chassis. The complete list of 2011 Mazda CX-5 Accessories and its production eta will be announced only after the official premiere.
